John Taylor Lytle\u00a0 (1866 – 1944)<\/strong><\/h1>\n

John<\/em> was<\/em> born<\/em> slightly<\/em> deaf,<\/em> and<\/em> had<\/em> a<\/em> coal<\/em> merchant\u2019s<\/em> business<\/em> in<\/em> Liverpool.<\/em> He<\/em> was<\/em> married<\/em> to<\/em> Margaret<\/em> Ross<\/em> and<\/em> had<\/em> three<\/em> children.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

In the 1881 Census, John Taylor Lytle is a boy of 14, living with his foster parents above the greengrocer\u2019s shop at 71 Robson Street, Everton, Liverpool. He is listed as \u2018shopboy greengrocer\u2019.<\/p>\n

When he got back to Britain from his travels in America, he seems to have returned to the greengrocery business.<\/p>\n

In the 1891 Census, John Taylor appears as a visitor to his uncle and aunt, Joseph and Mary Taylor. Joseph was the younger brother of Alice Lytle. But by 1901 John was recorded at his home address and business: 71 Robson Street, living with the Scantleburys again. He is 34, still single and listed as \u2018assistant green grocer shop\u2019.<\/p>\n

However, by the 1911 Census, John Taylor was 44 and married to Margaret, aged 27. They were living at 50 Herschell St, Everton, Liverpool. He had become a coal dealer. Margaret\u2019s mother, Ann Margaret Ross, a widow, was living with them. They had three children: Margaret Alice born in 1911, Daniel Leslie born in 1912 and John Taylor born in 1916.<\/p>\n

This son John, was partially sighted since birth, and was sent to a special school and then worked at the Blind Workshops. By the time he was in his 60\u2019s he lived with his daughter and son-in-law at Childwall.<\/p>\n

In the 1939 Register, John is still listed as a coal retailer, and living at 50 Herschell Street, Liverpool, with his daughter, Margaret Alice, who was 29, single and a cigar roller.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
